The Meteorological Forecast Office at the Abu Dhabi International Airport (ADIA) is operated under the auspices of the National Center of Meteorology & Seismology (NCMS). The office provides meteorological forecast services for aviation purposes which includes 24 hour continual weather watch, observational reports (METAR), specialized aviation reports as requested by clients at the aerodrome (Visibility and Inversion forecast), local gulf area forecasts (LAF), terminal aerodrome forecasts (TAF) and surface/upper air climate data. The services cover all airports under its control, namely Abu Dhabi (OMAA), Al Ain (OMAL), and Bateen (OMAD) Airports.

Flight Folder Briefing System

A comprehensive Flight Folder Briefing System has been developed in-house and users have access to this system via the intranet as well as the internet. It contains information as per regulations - Upper Air / SIGWX charts, METAR / TAFs as well as SIGMET warnings. The flight folder system also displays local airfield warnings, sector winds for the Gulf region as well as Take-off data for Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Bateen airports. Real-time satellite imagery is also made available.

Aerodrome Warnings

Aerodrome Warnings are issued in the event that aircraft movement at the aerodrome could possibly be affected due to certain weather phenomenon such as thunderstorm, sand storm and windshear. Click on each station to view weather warnings. (Requires Adobe Reader)

SIGMET and AIRMET Warning are issued by (Aviation Meteorology - National Center of Meteorology and Seismology). These warnings are valid only for UAE-FIR. Rainfall Warning is used only for Abu Dhabi airport apron activities.

Meteorological Forecast includes a 24 hour forecast plus a 5 day weather outlook for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain airports. The General Aerodrome or Visibility forecast contains a forecast visibility for Abu Dhabi airport runways. All forecast are updated every 6 hours at 0000Z, 0600Z, 1200Z and 1800Z.
